What is Agneepath Scheme?

Agneepath/ Agnipath Scheme is a recruitment process launched by the central government wherein selected candidates will be enrolled as Agniveers for four years period in Indian Armed Forces. The Armed Forces will be recruiting 46,000 Agniveers this year through Agnipath/Agneepath scheme. On completion of the four-year period, Aginveers will go to the society as a disciplined, dynamic, motivated, and skilled workforce for employment in other sectors to pursue their career in the job of their choice.

Agneepath Scheme is a step that is initiated for the recruitment of 46,000+ Agniveers to the Indian Army, Indian Navy and India Air Force. 10% vacancies in CAPF: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said it has decided to reserve 10 per cent vacancies for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles for Agniveers.

Incentives- The ministries of home affairs and defence announced concessions and incentives that will assist Agniveers in their further employment. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the PSUs under his housing and petroleum ministries are working on hiring ‘Agniveers’ after their four-year service in the armed forces.

Revised Age Limit- The upper age limit for Agniveers has been revised to 23 years.

Reservation- The government has announced a 10% reservation for ‘Agniveers’ in central police forces & Assam Rifles with upper age relaxation. Defence Ministry also came up with a 10% quota which will cover the Coast Guard, defence civilian posts and 16 defence PSUs, which include major ones like Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics, as well as four shipyards and 41 ordnance factories.

Training- As per, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, the training of first agniveers will begin this December (in 2022) at the centres.

Agniveer Age Limit

Agniveer Age Limit: With the release of the Agneepath Scheme for hiring Agniveers in the Indian Army, Indian Air Force & Indian Navy, the most asked question among the candidates these days is “What is Agniveer Age Limit?”. Earlier, the armed forces have decided that the candidates falling in the age group of 17½ – 21 years are eligible to apply for Aginveer recruitment, which was later on revised to 17½ – 23 years (applicable only for Agniveer 2022 batch). Granting a one-time waiver, the Union government declared that the Agniveer upper age limit for recruitments via Agnipath Scheme has been extended to 23 years from 21 years. The MHA also decides to give 3 years of age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers for recruiting in CAPFs & Assam Rifles.

The candidates who wish to join the Indian Army as an Agniveer should be between 17½ years and 23 years as of the date of enrollment i.e. as on 01st October 2022.

Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Air Force

The Aginveer selected in Indian Air Force will be called “Agniveer Vayu” and only the unmarried Indian male citizens are eligible to apply for Agniveer Vayu Batch Intake 1/2022. As mentioned in the Indian Air Force Agniveer Recruitment 2022 Notificationthe Agniveer Age Limit for Indian Air Force is detailed as below.

1. The minimum age to apply for Agniveer in Indian Air Force is 17.5 years (17 ½ years).

2. The upper age limit for Air Force Agniveer as on the date of enrolment must be 23 years in case the candidate clears all selection rounds.

3. The candidates must have been born between 29 December 1999 and 29 June 2005 (both days inclusive).
